Episode 40-41: Kyuubi Unleashed! and Secret Mission Start

Holy crap. Naruto is pissed. Really pissed. Before he even starts fighting we see the Demon Fox Cloak form, showing the signature single tail. Orochimaru, trying to invoke the team talks about his experiments. Before anyone can react, Naruto leaps at Orochimaru with blinding speed knocking him sevaral hundred feet into the woods. Orochimaro returns and we learn that Yamato was born as an experiment of Orichimaru. The DNA of the first Hokage was implanted in him explaining how he got the first’s abilities. As a result, Naruto develops TWO more tails!! Kabuto then tries to attack him but is deflected by Naruto with pure Chakra. Kabuto knocks out Sakura as he flies backward. The bridge then starts to collapse from the blast of pure chakra. Sakura, being unconscious, starts to fall with the bridge. Yamato tells Sai to help her, but he mutters something about fulfilling his real mission and leaves, following Naruto who took off into the forest with Orochimaru. Yamato barely saves Sakura who is then able to wake up. After some battling, Orochimaru appears unimpressed with the power Naruto holds. Then Naruto begins to lose control and a fourth tail appears. His skin peals away to reveal a miniture demon fox. And at this point we are left to wait for the next episode!

Episode 42: Jinchuriki vs. Orochimaru

Despite the highly anticipated nature of this episode, and even despite the name of it, not a whole lot happens here. It moves pretty slowly, and the fight doesn’t get finished up here. However, it is still an AWESOME episode. We start the episode where we left off, with Naruto Transformed and everyone watching. After a full frontal attack that is easily destroyed by Naruto from Orochimaru, the two of them toss attacks back and forth. Everytime it seems that Orochimaru has been destroyed only to come back due some mysterious technique. Meanwhile, Kabuto comes out (from being hit way back) and talks with Sakura. After some speculating he discovers that Sasori was killed. Going back to Naruto, he gathers an unbelievable amount of Chakra in a small space and fires it at Orochimaru. Using three giant doors to block the attack, Orochimaru comes back, stabbing and pushing Naruto back to the Bridge of Heaven and Earth. Now everyone can see Naruto’s desperate transformation, and we are left wondering as the episode ends.

Episode 43: Sakura’s Tears

This was a great episode that, having finished up the large portion of the fight, tended to work more on developing the relationship between Naruto and Sakura. In this episode she feels a great deal of sorrow and care for Naruto because of his deep desire to save Sasuke. Before I get too far ahead of myself, however, let’s go over the episode. We start off seeing Naruto get stabbed and pushed back by Orochimaru. The sword doesn’t even break the skin, and Naruto pushes away the sword. At this point, Kabuto makes some comments about the desperation of Naruto, to turn into the monster, and Sakura begins to cry realizing the price Naruto is paying. She tries to go to Naruto only for him to knock her down (remember, he is not in control of himself). Kabuto goes and heals her, saying that both groups have the same goal of getting rid of Akatsuki. Kabuto then leaves, and Yamato confines and begins to heal Naruto. Meanwhile, Sai goes and meets up with Orochimaru. Turns out, he has a message for Orochimaru from Danzou. Orochimaru thinks and then shoots a sword at him, having little regard for his life. We are then left with Naruto changing and Sai in danger.

Episode 44: The Facts of the Fight

Well, for all you Hinata x Naruto Fans out there, I’ve got some bad news for you. It’s not happening. I will explain, but first allow me talk about the episode. It’s pretty simple really. Naruto is returned to normal and Sakura goes to work healing him. While she’s healing, she talks with Yamato about how she can never do enough for Naruto. Yamato tells her it doesn’t matter as much as her caring for him. He then starts to say something else, but is stopped by Naruto awaking. He doesn’t remember a thing. Meanwhile, Sai was stabbed by Orochimaru, but it turns out the Sai he stabbed was an “ink clone”. Sai then gives Orochimaru his message, and Orochimaru thinks it over. Eventually Kabuto, Sai and Orochimaru all leave together, apparently working together. Yamato’s wood clone then follows them. Soon the others reach the crater and talk about Sai and what he is actually up to. Yamato’s theory is that Danzou is looking to Destroy Konoha, and may be using Orochimaru to help.

Now, for what I promised earlier. If you don’t want to hear it, stop reading. Sakura loves Naruto. It was strongly hinted at, and even though it’s not explicit, it’s implied that the two will have more romantic involvement here later on in the show. (Manga readers, don’t ruin this for us). Don’t worry about Hinata. She will find someone eventually.

Episode 45: The Consequence of Betrayal

After such a monumental battle, naturally things have to slow down a bit. So what do all the characters do? They talk. Yep. They really like to start stating the obvious and take their time doing so while their most hated enemy is casually escaping. Eh, no worries. But they do talk about Danzou and how he is trying to take down Konoha and set up his own government. They decide that they are finally ready to go, but suddenly Naruto keels over in pain. He still hasn’t healed from his use of the Kyuubi’s Chakra. Yamato threatens to leave him behind, pointing out does things differently than Kakashi. With great effort, Naruto is able to continue forward saving the mission. As Yamato’s wood clone pursues Orochimaru, he discovers the corpse of Sai. It turns out to be a decoy meant to slow down the pursuer (Sai isn’t dead… yet). As Yamato’s team continues to pursue Orochimaru, Sakura’s damaged arm gives way and she falls. The group decides that they need a rest. Sakura doesnt’ tell Naruto that he hurt her. Yamato takes him aside and explains to him that he is the cause. At this point the espisode ends, leaving us waiting once again.

Episode 46: The Unfinished Page

This episode starts where we left off. Yamato explains to Naruto that using the Kyuubi’s chakra is dangerous to everyone around him. He also explains that Naruto doesn’t need it to be strong, that his Chakra being able to hold back the Kyuubi is strength in itself. While they are talking, Sakura remembers picking up the book that Sai left behind as he rushed off with Orochimaru (the one that belonged to his brother… you know the one he doesn’t lend to anybody and leaves it a mystery?). As Sakura looks through the book, she calls over Naruto and Yamato. On examining the book, it shows two men killing enemies and taking on their weapons. On the center page, where they should meet, is an unfinished picture. It seems like a story about Sai and his Brother. As they continue to discuss, we go back to Orochimaru’s group. They have arrived at the base. Upon entering the secret hide out, we meet an old face. One we haven’t seen in years. Sasuke….

And of course, the episode ends. If you think about it, you should have seen it coming really.

Episode 47: Infiltration! The Venomous Snake’s Nest

Man. Sasuke is freakin’ scary now. With one look, he made Sai scared, seemingly drawing Sai into his eye with some strange technique. Now, remember that Sai is emotionless, so that’s impressive. So much for Sai and Sasuke being friends. After some comments about Naruto, Sasuke mentions he only lives to get revenge on his brother. Some rude comments to Orochimaru about training and then he is gone. Orochimaru then gives Kabuto the file Sai brought with him. Turns out it contained files on all ANBU members. Not good for Konoha. Meanwhile, Naruto and friends reach the base. Yamato gives them a seed that resonates with his Chakra so that he can track them anywhere. He then explains that he slipped one onto Sai as well, which is how they were able to track down the hideout. Using his wood technique, Yamato then digs a tunnel toward the base. Back inside, Kabuto goes to lock up Sai. When locked up, Sai takes out some scrolls and summons a book. What the book is for is unknown. We then see Naruto’s group sneak into the base through crack in the wall, then immediately start tracking down Sai. Just as they start to do so, however, Kabuto realizes he left the files Orochimaru gave him back in Sai’s cell. Now Kabuto and team Kakashi are headed in the same direction. With that, end of episode.

On a side note, the anticipation of this episode is intense. There are times when you can truly feel that something big is about to go down, and this episode certainly gives off that vibe. We are nearly back to where the new series started off from, namely the flash forward that it opened up with. Knowing that this show has revolved completely around the relationship of Naruto with Sasuke, one can only guess as the outcome of the story (manga readers may be quite. No spoilers!!)

Episode 48: Bonds

This episode uses a lot of character building and talking about the relationship of Naruto with Sasuke. First of all, we see Naruto’s team make it to Sai before Kabuto. Sai has some explaining to do, and Yamato’s team doesn’t hesitate in making it known they’re a little annoyed with his betrayal. Realizing he failed his mission, Sai explains that he was to be the Liasion between Orochimaru and Danzou, while spying on Orochimaru at the same time. Sakura returns Sai’s picture book, saying that regardless of how hard he tried to get rid of emotions, the book is proof that he still has some, and that he keeps the book to remind him of his existence. Sai also explains that he did not kill his brother, as we were led to suspect. We then switch to Kabuto (who seems to have taken an incredibly long time to get back to the room), and he finds Sai’s room empty. The team took and bound Sai. Sai explains to Naruto that Sasuke holds no respect for Naruto anymore, but Naruto explains that he doesn’t care. He is going to save Sasuke regardless. And with that conviction, we wait for next week.

Episode 49: Something Important

Oh man, this episode is freakin’ awesome. You seriously need to not read this until after you have seen this episode. There is action, fighting as well as symbolism and anticipation. In short, the reason this episode is so great is because we have come full circle and are now seeing images that we first saw when the series started.

It begins when We see Sai and the others talking. Kabuto comes out of nowhere and attacks them. After some nifty animation and some impressive attacks by all, Kabuto is at a stand still with Naruto’s group. He let’s Sai go, thinking he was captured and is still intending on being the liaison for Orochimaru, but is double-crossed when Sai captures Kabuto from behind. Sai explains that he wants to see the bond that Naruto has made with Sai. They then interrogate Kabuto to find out where Sauke is. Kabuto only tells them that the complex is huge and there is no way to really know where he is. Yamato’s team splits up and all chase after Sasuke. Room after room, the search, remember moments with Sasuke. However, they do not discover Sasuke this episode. That is left for another episode.

Episode 50: The picture book’s story

You’re not going to like this episode. No, really, you aren’t. NOTHING happens here! We don’t see Sasuke (at least not really) and there is little to no fighting. *sigh* Well, to start things off, Kabuto is still tied up, but making plans on escaping, Naruto and Sai are in one group looking and Yamato and Sakura are in another group. Naruto collapses out of exhaustio (and still injured from the Kyuubi fight) and Sai sits by until he wakes up. The two of them get talking and Sai talks about how Naruto is so much like Sai’s brother. At that moment, he remembers the face of his brother, and Sai finally finishes the picture book, and smiles sincerely. Just then Orochimaru shows up taunting Naruto. He plays with Naruto while Sai leaves to continue looking for Sasuke. Yamato and Sakura sense Naruto is fighting they show up. Orochimaru leaves Naruto alone telling him to kill another member of Akatsuki. Just then Yamato sees a black book in Sai’s bag that he left behind. It was a boingo book (or book of people Sai is going to assasinate) and it has Sasuke in it!

Next week is the highly anticipated reunion of Naruto and Sasuke. How do I know? Well it’s a special double episode and the title’s are “Reunion” and “Uchiha’s Power”. So don’t ever question me again. This episode might have been a little over-hyped, but next week is the one we have all been waiting for!

  4. SakuraxNaruto? Suuuure~ . . . *rolls eyes* Of course she is going to go for Naruto after defending Sasuke when he is clearly in the wrong, chasing after a hopeless dream, and by going to Naruto will thereby decrease her strength as a character. After all, a weak character would say “Hey Naruto, I really like you since I just realized that Sasuke sucks. So from now on, I give up on fanciful love and take on a more realistic sense which will probably lead me to dump you later on in life! :) ”. However, a strong character would stick by their claims continuously and without yielding (like what Naruto does). So no, Sakura will not be with Naruto. But don’t worry, I’m sure she’ll find someone else. ;P
